I led the first-ever inventory of San Francisco's street trees. I managed a consultant and interagency team to map and record data on 125,000 trees including location, species, size and condition. The data was used to develop an urban forest management plan for San Francisco Public Works. Today, the information informs tree maintenance and sidewalk repair priorities as well as tree planting. The project engaged the public in creative ways including an on-line map, social media, tree contest and phone app. San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee recognized the project with a Data and Innovation Award.
