As part of multi-racial leadership teams, I have worked to develop and implement Racial Equity Action Plans for the San Francisco Planning Department and San Francisco Public Works. These plans call out systemic racism and existing inequities in the workplace along with strategies to address them. A key component of this work involves normalizing discussions around race and creating safe spaces for staff to share their experiences. I am currently co-developing processes to better support BIPOC staff in career advancement and a system to track progress on plan implementation. I was a member of the City of San Francisco’s inaugural cohort in the year-long Racial Equity in the Public Sector training offered by the Government Alliance for Race and Equity (GARE).
